Comic!

Back from outer space.

So, I just got a brand-used new drawing tablet, and I couldn't resist trying it out on a comic. Much, much better than my old one! Pressure sensitivity is the greatest.

Now, this comic probably requires some background information. The Prisoner was a surreal British mystery/thriller series that ran from 1967 to 1968. Magill and I both encountered it in our own ways over the years.

One of the defining features of the show, which took place on a strange island where people who knew too much were kept sedated and trapped. The only guard on the island to stop people from escaping was a giant bubble that killed people. We're not making this up, folks.

Now, as much as we'd like to think at least one or two of you have seen this show and will get the strip, we're not deluding ourselves. However, the show was spoofed on an episode of The Simpsons that many of you probably saw and were intensely confused by. Needless to say, Magill and I were in stitches.

If any of you have seen the show, please drop us a line on the forum or by e-mail. We'd love to hear your weird Prisoner story!

I am Number Two. You are Number Six.

I love the Prisoner. It's like James Bond on acid. It's brilliant. If you haven't seen it, go out and rent it. I know you can find it - it's got a big cult following. I, of course, wrote this strip a long time ago when I was in the middle of watching the series. Man, I wish they'd make a movie.

Oh, the Prisoner was also mentioned in the excellent movie High Fidelity. Pick up that one, too, while you're at it.

Damn, Felan said all the good stuff before I could. It's great to see him drawing again. This strip looks like pure awesome, especially panel two.

Simpsons spoofed it at least twice. The other time was when Marge had to run away from Rover in a desolate greyscape. I forget why,

I love the first panel.

I just received it today.
